So you started a business, eh?

You’ve checked off:

  • Create a website

  • Create social media accounts

  • Get a logo or make one yourself

Great start!

But how do you improve SEO so you actually show up on someone’s Google Search??

No don’t Google MY business (actually - second thought - go ahead, google me!).

Create a Google My Business account. Do it TODAY! It’s FREE!

This helps your business be discoverable in Google Searches and Google Maps while helping to ensure you get top results. This also allows you to manage your Google listing including hours, photos, and you can get reviews, respond to reviews, and so much more.

It’s worth the 20ish minutes to create the account!

Okay- here’s how to do it:

MAKE SURE TO SIGN UP WITH YOUR BUSINESS EMAIL DOMAIN

  • Add your business - First, see if you can find your business in the search, if not - add your business to Google (it’s exciting, I know!)

  • Follow all of the Google My Business prompts - choose a category, your physical location, yada yada yada…

  • VERIFY your business. Google will send you a postcard (yes, in the mail) to confirm that you’re real and your location is legit. It’ll take a few days for this postcard to show up in your mailbox but once it does, follow the directions on the postcard.

  • BAM! You’re in!

Not too hard, was it?!

Now the most important thing, no - second most important thing, you just finished the most important - is to keep your Google My Business updated.
